The Gamgetic Plans of Uttar Pradesh are dotted with water bodies consisting of marshes and
shallow lakes which form an ideal refuge for these bird. Keeping in mind the importance of conserving
and the need to establish Sanctuaries to protect and provide safe refuge to the Birds, twelve Bird Sanctuaries
have been established. “Nawabganj” a marsh shallow lake of around 2.25 square kilometers, which for a long time
had been the home to a great variety of birds, was declared as a Bird Sanctuary in the year 1984. The sanctuary
